1 SAT Parent Night February 1, 2017

2 What is the sat? The SAT-10 is a norm referenced test (NRT) with multiple-choice questions to measure subject area content and process skills in reading and mathematics. The Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) uses the SAT-10 to measure Kindergarten, first, and second grade student achievement in reading and mathematics. The test data is used to compare student achievement in reading and mathematics against a nationwide sample of students.

3 The scores are reported as percentiles or as stanines:
The percentile compares the ranking of a student who took the test at that grade level. For example, a student that scores 84% indicates that the student did better than 83%of the students in the same grade level. Stanines scores range from a low of 1 to a high of 9.

4 Testing Dates The SAT-10 will be administered on the following dates:
Reading: Monday, March 27, 2017 Mathematics: Tuesday, March 28, 2017 How long is the test? The test runs for approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, however the SAT-10 is NOT a timed test.

5 Individual student report
The individual student report (ISR) provides the student’s percentile and stanine scores on the Reading Comprehension and Mathematics: Problem Solving. If a student receives a scores of 6-9 (stanine) it indicates an above average performance.

6 What does the sat-10 tell about a student’s achievement?
