3 BODIES OF WATER ARCTIC INDIAN PACIFIC ATLANTIC OCEANS: An ocean is a large body of salt water that surrounds a continent. Oceans cover more the two-thirds of the Earth's surface.

4 BODIES OF WATER SEAS: A sea is a large body of salty water that is often connected to an ocean. A sea may be partly or completely surrounded by land.

5 BODIES OF WATER RIVERS: A river is a large, flowing body of water that usually empties into a sea or ocean.

6 BODIES OF WATER LAKES: A lake is a large body of water surrounded by land on all sides. Really huge lakes are often called seas

7 BODIES OF WATER GULFS: A gulf is a part of the ocean (or sea) that is partly surrounded by land (it is usually larger than a bay).

8 BAYS: A bay is a body of water that is partly enclosed by land (and is usually smaller than a gulf).

9 LANDFORMS CONTINENT-one of seven large landmasses on Earth

10 LANDFORMS MOUNTAIN: A mountain is a very tall high, natural place on Earth - higher than a hill. The tallest mountain on Earth is Mt. Everest.

11 LANDFORMS DESERT: A dry, often sandy region of little rainfall, extreme temperatures, and little vegetation.

12 LANDFORMS PLAIN: flat area of land with few trees and few plants

13 LANDFORMS PLATEAU- large, flat area of land that is higher than the surrounding land

14 LANDFORMS VALLEY- long, low area of land between mountains or hills

15 LANDFORMS ISLAND: An island is a piece of land that is surrounded by water.

16 LANDFORMS PENINSULA- a piece of land that has water on three sides

17 Climate The climate measures the patterns in a place or region over a long period of time. Climate is not the same as weather! It measures the temperature, average precipitation, wind, humidity

18 Flora Flora are plants on our earth Trees Flowers Bushes

19 Fauna Fauna are different animals that exist on our earth

20 Natural resources Natural resources are materials that come from the earth that we use in our lives Examples include oil, water, trees
