1 Thank you very much for supporting WellChild
Thank you very much for supporting WellChild. To introduce WellChild and There’s No Place Like Home, we’ve created a presentation for you to use in your School Assembly. They’ll learn all about Josh’s story from hospital to home and how their support is vital to WellChild. As this is a template, please feel free to make any additions. The presentation should last around minutes.

2 There’s No Place Like Home
We’re going to start off with a warm up! Have any of you ever heard of the phrase ‘There’s No Place Like Home’? Do you know where it comes from? [Clues if necessary] Who can guess the names of the characters on screen? Ask the students to think about what home means to them?

3 Let’s watch a film to find out more about WellChild.
Who knows what ‘fundraising’ means? Explain that we are going to be fundraising for WellChild, which is the national charity for sick children. We are going to watch a film about WellChild. Has anyone heard of WellChild before? Pay attention because we have a quiz coming up and you’ll need to make sure you know the answers!

4 Hands up if you know the answer...
Who was the green monster? What can’t very poorly children do? Who does WellChild help? What do WellChild nurses do? What was the Green monster in the video? Bacteria What can’t children that are seriously ill do? You feel weak, can’t run or play. You have to stay in bed. Who do WellChild help? Seriously ill children What do the WellChild nurses do? Look after sick children, give them medicines etc. Is there anyone who can name some of the things WellChild does to help? Helping hands, WellChild nurses, scientists.

5 Josh’s journey home... Josh spent the first 10 months of his life in hospital. He has a condition which means when he’s asleep he ‘underbreathes’. Josh and his mum Emma stayed at hospital, whilst dad Philip and sister Erin were at home. Josh’s parents were introduced to Rachel, one of our WellChild Nurses. With Rachel’s help, Josh’s parents managed to care for Josh at home. We’re going to find out about Josh and his journey... How would you feel if you were away from home? What would you miss most? Josh is now back home with his family and he loves tractors, dinosaurs and his big sister!

6 How will our money help? £25 will fund an hour’s specialist care and support by WellChild Children’s Nurses to help get a child home with their family. £10 will help pay for the wood, paint or play equipment so that our Helping Hands team can transform a child’s bedroom or garden. £5 will help fund our WellChild Family Tree to connect parents and carers of families of children with multiple and complex needs. So, let’s have a look where our money will be going? How much do you think we could raise? Does anyone have any ideas for what we could do to raise money? How much shall we raise?

7 Let’s start our journey...
Good luck! Let’s get going on our journey....
