4 Key points for assessing the performance of ECV obs.
intro ¦ ECV performance: host · strategy · data · best practices · capacity building ¦ action items Key points for assessing the performance of ECV obs. Framework for international coordination of monitoring Consortium of international data centres & services Scientific community Monitoring strategy Updated overview on monitoring network Standardized data compilation & dissemination => data access Readily available key results => indicator, assessment reports Best practices => terminology, methods, quality control Capacity building & twinning …and this for: in-situ, air and space borne observations!

5 How to Review the performance of ECV observations?

18 My suggestions for feasible GCOS Action Items
intro ¦ ECV performance: host · strategy · data · best practices · capacity building ¦ action items My suggestions for feasible GCOS Action Items Get a steward institution or consortium for each ECV => formalize the corresponding GCOS mandate (e.g. MoU) Ask for an annually updated indicator graphs for each ECV From these, select a set of GCOS Climate Change Indicators => feasible, understandable, high-confidence level Introduce regular checks on data access => tasks for AOPC, OOPC, TOPC?
