Your civilization went to war. You defeated the enemy and took over their land. How would you treat them?

Why is it important to have a strong army? What advantages are there for having an army that is powerful? How does this affect enemies and civilizations who have yet to face a powerful army?

One of the reasons they were successful in war was the terror tactics they used, devastating conquered populations and committing atrocities on captives. Should armies follow moral standards as they fight wars, or should anything go as long as it serves victory?

25 DISCUSSION QUESTION Judaism and Zoroastrianism are both monotheistic. Why might the reason be for believing in monotheism rather than polytheism?

26 DO NOW What are the reasons for the fall of the Persian Empire? Could it have been avoided? Why or why not? Explain why some leaders could not handle the pressure of being emperor. Who were two good emperors of Persia that strengthened the empire??
