1 Qualitative analysis of anions
Chemistry final project.. Fatema AL-Senni Sec:214

2 Objective.. To understand the rationale and the procedure behind the separation for various cations and anions. To perform qualitative analysis of two unknown solution that contain various ions and positively identify these ions using established schemes.

3 Equipment and Material Required
test tubes and 4 test tube racks Chloride ion 6 M HNO3 0.1 M AgNO3 Sulfate ion 6 M Hcl 0.1 M BaCl2 Nitrate ion 6 M H2SO4 Saturated ion (II) Sulfuric acid Carbonate ion 6 M Hcl LIMUS PAPER

4 a. The test for chloride ion
Put 10 drops of chloride ion and add 2 drops of 6M H NO3 Check the acidity with litmus paper Add 2 drops of 0.1M AgNo3

5 Result: Will get white precipice of Agcl

6 b. The test for sulfate ion
Put 10 drops of sulfate ion, then add 2 drops of 6M Hcl Check the acidity Add 2 drops of 0.1 MB acl2

7 Result Will get with precipitate of Baso4

8 c. The test for nitrate ion
Put 10 drops of Nitrate ion, then add 2 drops of 6M H2so4 Check it Add 10 drops of saturated iron (II) sulfate solution and put 3ml of concentrated sulfuric acid hold the test tubes at 45 angle and mix them slightly

9 FeNo to from between the concentrated sulfuric acid layer and the iron sulfate layer

10 d. THE THEST FOR CARBONATE ION
Add 10 drops of carbonate ion Add 2 drops of 6M Hcl Will get colorless gas bubbles of Co2
