3 Reading -Resources We use the following tools and resources to support our curriculum: Class Novels Book Clubs Accelerated Reader (AR) Renaissance 360 Other comprehension resources

4 Class Novels/Book Clubs
We will be reading a book a month. For the first semester we will be reading a class novel. We will start book club in the spring. Students will be given a section to read. Their will be an activity that goes along with the section. A weekly comprehension test over that section Students will be able to use the book.

5 Accelerated Reader (AR)
Every nine weeks the students are given a goal. That goal is the number of points they need to obtain by the end of the nine weeks. Students obtain points by reading books and taking AR tests at school. Students need to read books that are in their AR level. AR tests can be taken: after their work is finished in class, during flexible learning, during the computer lab time. The library will be open after school 2 days a week for AR tests. Parents must be present.

6 Accelerated Reader cont.
Students will receive 2 grades at the end of the nine weeks from AR. The percentage of their goal The average of all the quizzes that were taken that nine weeks. AR reports will be sent home with their graded work every Friday after the 3rd week of the nine weeks.
