1 From: The Müller-Lyer Illusion: Investigation of a Center of Gravity Effect on the Amplitudes of Saccades Journal of Vision. 2010;10(1):11. doi: / Figure Legend: Mean amplitudes of saccades for the SCA figures. a) The figure shows the endpoints of saccades (saccades from right to left were mirror-reversed and collapsed on the saccades that were carried out from left to right) for the three SCA figures that had the same actual size (average shaft length = 5 cm). The corresponding mean amplitudes of saccades are shown on the right (± SEM). The differences between the endpoints of saccades for the illusory figures to the neutral figure are denoted as d 1 and d 2. b) The action effect (AE). The mean amplitudes of saccades for the SCA figures are plotted against their actual sizes. The action effect is computed according to Bruno and Franz (2009): Action effect = AE = [d1 + d2 / (slope × average size of SCA figure)] × 100 = [m1 + m2 / 5] × 100 = ± 3.77%.
