2 Class Routine Report to class ON TIME
Immediately go to the locker room and change, unless otherwise noted In and out of the locker room in 5 minutes or you will lose points off of your daily grade Come into the gym and complete the daily warm-up Points will also be deducted from your grade if you do not COMPLETE all activities on the warm-up After completing the warm-up, wait along the bleachers for instructions Do not touch any equipment that is set up and do not distract those who are still working on the warm-up

3 Locker Rooms You will choose your locker, do not share lockers with anyone else and do not change your locker without telling your teacher Do not store garbage in your lockers DO NOT give your lock combination out to anyone else DO NOT leave your belonging outside your locker and do not leave your locker unlocked! You are responsible for your belongings! Always lock them up so they are not lost or stolen! You are responsible for the lock that is issued to you and are responsible to pay $3.50 if that lock is lost

4 Locker Rooms and BYOD The locker rooms, bathrooms and the gym are all RED ZONES! Do not use your devices in these areas!

5 Dress Code Proper dress includes sneakers and comfortable clothing that allows for movement All attire worn in PE class MUST follow the school dress code or you will be asked to change Shorts must be long enough that they extend past your fingertips when your arms are at your sides Tank tops must have straps that are at least three fingers in width Large jewelry that hangs off your body must be taken off

6 Grading Policy You will earn a grade every day of class
Participation- 40% Dressing Out- 20% Attitude/Behavior- 20% Skills/Written Assignments- 20% **If you have 3 days of not dressing out, you will get a zero and a referral

7 Missing Class If you miss a class FOR ANY REASON (i.e. absence, appointment, band lesson, with another teacher, etc.) you are required to complete a written assignment to earn your grade for that class. If you have a prolonged absence, illness, or injury you will be given a project All make-up assignments are due the following class period unless otherwise noted by your teacher More than two absences that are not made-up with an assignment will result in 2 points off of final grade * Make-up packets are located in the left cabinet in Miss George’s office

8 Medical Issues and Injuries
Make your teacher aware of any chronic medical issues you may have If you have an injury and are unable to participate in class: The first two days you may have a note from a parent/guardian explaining why you cannot participate By the third day of PE class you MUST have a note from a doctor to be able to sit out from class Make-up assignments are still to be completed, regardless of the type of note that you have You must also provide a note from a doctor to be cleared to return to full participation in PE

9 Injuries During Class Always follow instructions and safety procedures to limit the risk of injuries during class Remember; this is NOT the Olympics, you are NOT being scouted by college recruits during PE class! Control yourself and remember that this is an opportunity for everyone to participate in a safe way If there is an injury during class, do not crowd around the individual, go where your teachers asks and assist when asked

10 Food, Drinks and Leaving Class
Absolutely no food or drinks are allowed in the gymnasium NO GUM! You need permission before going to the bathroom or to get a drink Only 1-2 people out at a time

11 Fire Drills Exit out the left rear door and walk quietly to the tennis courts Line-up in single file line where you are asked to go May ask someone to carry green emergency backpack

12 Lock Down Procedures Go through the rear doors into the girls locker room Sit with backs against lockers and stay quiet No one should ever use a cell phone during a lock down or fire drill! There is no talking during a fire drill or lock down!

Rock Wall Table Tennis Badminton Fort Knox Handball Weight Lifting Lawn Games Ultimate Frisbee Mission Impossible Softball/Wiffleball Fitness Testing Racquetball *Early morning classes: bring extra socks and shoes! May not always go outside because of the temperature and dew on the grass. Always have extra clothing in your lockers

14 Fitness Testing Fitness testing is required at the beginning and end of the year You are given a grade based on your performance and effort on the test We are looking to see improvement from the beginning of the year to the end Always try your best and take it as an opportunity to see what you can achieve Tests include: Mile Run, PACER, Curl-Up, Push-Up, Flex Arm Hang/Pull-Ups and Sit and Reach

15 Equipment Treat the equipment that we use in class as if it is your own Replacing equipment that has been mistreated and mishandled takes away from money that can be spent buying equipment for new units Help us keep this equipment lasting! If something breaks on accident, please let us know immediately Use your common sense when using our equipment Do not use equipment until you have been instructed Help pick-up equipment when asked, it makes the class run smoothly!

16 Permission Slips Pamphlets must be signed by a parent/guardian and returned next class Your parent/guardian must indicate if you have any limitations or modifications necessary to participate in PE class Read through this pamphlet with your parent/guardian so you are both understanding of the rules, policies and expectations for PE class Remember! You need all of your credits of PE to graduate!
