Manasseh’s Prayer 2 Chronicles 33

Manasseh

2 Chronicles 33

Manasseh’s Prayer Offered Humbly

For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.
Luke 18:14b

(17) The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise. Psalm 51:17 ESV

(36) "If they sin against you--for there is no one who does not sin--and you are angry with them and give them to an enemy, so that they are carried away captive to a land far or near, (37) yet if they turn their heart in the land to which they have been carried captive, and repent and plead with you in the land of their captivity, saying, 'We have sinned and have acted perversely and wickedly,' 2 Chronicles 6:36-40 ESV

(38) if they repent with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their captivity to which they were carried captive, and pray toward their land, which you gave to their fathers, the city that you have chosen and the house that I have built for your name, (39) then hear from heaven your dwelling place their prayer and their pleas, 2 Chronicles 6:36-40 ESV

and maintain their cause and forgive your people who have sinned against you. (40) Now, O my God, let your eyes be open and your ears attentive to the prayer of this place. 2 Chronicles 6:36-40 ESV

(12) Then the LORD appeared to Solomon in the night and said to him: "I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for myself as a house of sacrifice. (13) When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command the locust to devour the land, or send pestilence among my people, 2 Chronicles 7:12-15 ESV

(14) if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. (15) Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayer that is made in this place. 2 Chronicles 7:12-15 ESV

(26) But to the king of Judah, who sent you to inquire of the LORD, thus shall you say to him, Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel: Regarding the words that you have heard, (27) because your heart was tender and you humbled yourself before God when you heard his words against this place and its inhabitants, 2 Chronicles 34:26-28 ESV

and you have humbled yourself before me and have torn your clothes and wept before me, I also have heard you, declares the LORD. (28) Behold, I will gather you to your fathers, and you shall be gathered to your grave in peace, and your eyes shall not see all the disaster that I will bring upon this place and its inhabitants.'" And they brought back word to the king. 2 Chronicles 34:26-28 ESV

(6) Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, (7) casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:6-7 ESV

On Bended Knee On bended knee I come With a humble heart I come Bowing down before Your holy throne Lifting holy hands to You As I pledge my love anew I worship You in spirit I worship You in truth Make my life A holy praise unto You

Manasseh’s Prayer Offered Humbly Moved God

(13) He prayed to him, and God was moved by his entreaty and heard his plea and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the LORD was God. 2 Chronicles 33:13 ESV

(19) And his prayer, and how God was moved by his entreaty, and all his sin and his faithlessness, and the sites on which he built high places and set up the Asherim and the images, before he humbled himself, behold, they are written in the Chronicles of the Seers. 2 Chronicles 33:19 ESV

(7) Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance. Luke 15:7 ESV

(14) And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. (15) And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him. 1 John 5:14-15 ESV

(24) Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. Mark 11:24 ESV

(10) "For thus says the LORD: When seventy years are completed for Babylon, I will visit you, and I will fulfill to you my promise and bring you back to this place. (11) For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:10-14 ESV

(12) Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. (13) You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. (14) I will be found by you, declares the LORD, Jeremiah 29:10-14 ESV

and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations and all the places where I have driven you, declares the LORD, and I will bring you back to the place from which I sent you into exile. Jeremiah 29:10-14 ESV

Manasseh’s Prayer Offered Humbly Moved God Preceded Action

(14) Afterward he built an outer wall for the city of David west of Gihon, in the valley, and for the entrance into the Fish Gate, and carried it around Ophel, and raised it to a very great height. He also put commanders of the army in all the fortified cities in Judah. (15) And he took away the foreign gods and the idol from the house of the LORD, 2 Chronicles 33:14-17

and all the altars that he had built on the mountain of the house of the LORD and in Jerusalem, and he threw them outside of the city. (16) He also restored the altar of the LORD and offered on it sacrifices of peace offerings and of thanksgiving, and he commanded Judah to serve the LORD, the God of Israel. (17) Nevertheless, the people still sacrificed at the high places, but only to the LORD their God. 2 Chronicles 33:14-17

Manasseh’s Prayer Offered Humbly Moved God Preceded Action

(7) But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. (8) If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. (9) If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:7-9 ESV
