How do we learn vocabulary words besides from context? Why is learning vocabulary important?

Native speakers of English do not know all those words Neither should you Your strategy should be to learn the words you need to know

9 Learning Vocabulary There are two types of Vocabulary:
Basic (common) – words in English Technical (academic, or skill-specific) – words that apply to your major or field of study

10 Learning Vocabulary When we talk about vocabulary, we also talk about frequency Frequency is how often a word occurs

You must be able to use the words, not just memorize them Create sentences for the words you are learning. Write a story that includes the words you are learning. Ex: The speed of the turtle was so slow that he had no chance of winning the race.

There are five different strategies I will put on the board. In your groups, you must choose one vocabulary list and you have to complete each strategy for that list before time is up. Once you complete one have one person from your group come put your group name on the board
