7 Award Closeout Does export control affect award closeout?
If award transferring/knowing what export controlled equipment will be transferring. Knowing what export controlled equipment is left behind. Disposal of the export controlled equipment or transfer of ownership between researchers.

8 Implications – Non Compliance
Both Civil & Criminal Penalties Civil penalties up to $500,000 Criminal penalties including fines up to $1M and jail time In addition to fines and penalties the University, sponsored research may decrease significantly, especially federally funded defense contracts and/or subcontracts from large defense contractors or the private sector.

9 Incoming/Outgoing Contracts
Terms and Conditions of award document are important. Fundamental Research Clause Accepting any of the following terms signifies the activity is no longer Fundamental Research: Forbidding or restricting participation of foreign persons Allowing a sponsor a right to approve publications Restricting access to and disclosure of research results
