What is freedom? What are the limitations/obstacles to freedom?

Express what rights every student should have within the classroom. These rights should promote freedom (collective and individual), responsibility, and opportunities to pursue happiness/ success and, of course, education. Make a short list of the student “rights” you think should be protected in this class.

What area of your life do you want to focus on improving as you journal over the next 2-3 weeks? List 2-3 possibilities. (Even if you already know what you want to focus on, list a back-up option or two.) Identify which virtue (or virtues) best fit the characteristic/behavior/habit from your life. For at least ONE of these: Briefly explain how/why it fits.

12 9/30-10/3 The Declaration of Independence states: "We hold these truths to be self- evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." Journal Prompt: Are all people created equal? Why or why not (How or how not?) In at least one full paragraph explain your thoughts. Be thorough, use an example if it’s applicable.
