It will show how football has changed from the early days.

2. 1920’s Jim Thorpe was player and president of the nfl
All of the rules were finally set then professional football began

3. 1930’s League is split into divisions.
Many teams are joining and dropping out of the league.
Chicago Bears are the first undefeated team, undefeated season, unmatched until the 1970’s.

4. 1940’s
The war causes teams to leave league, or merge. Teams did rejoin following war.
First african american players are signed into the league - Marion Motley, Bill Willis, and Woody Strode.

5. 1950’s
Instead of having an American and National conference the NFL goes to divisions renamed Eastern and Western.
Championship games are played, but there is still no Super Bowl.
football is becoming more popular, but not as it is now.

6. 1960’s Vince Lombardi’s Packers win first two Super Bowls in history
“Broadway Joe” Namath leads the New York Jets to win Super Bowl III in the biggest upset in NFL history.

7. 1970’s
Miami Dolphins win Super Bowl VII in first ever perfect season. (record & SB)
NFC and AFC system is created, which is the same used today.
NFL is expanded from 14 to 16 games.
Walter Payton leads NFL in rushing five years straight.

8. 1980’s
The NFL Players Association do a strike following the second week of the season. They don’t play until Nov. 21.
only 9 regular season games are played.
