About the COE California Community Colleges must have continuous access to data and decision support to ensure that curriculum produces workers with the skills that are relevant to California’s businesses. As technical assistance providers, the COE work with colleges, regions and the sector networks to identify opportunities and trends in critical industries and occupations and help regions respond to workforce needs by providing them quality information for decision-making. Our products and services give colleges a competitive advantage in: Creating new and relevant programs and curriculum Pursuing grants that lead to funding Accessing workforce data that may be otherwise unavailable to the college Revising or retiring programs 4

Demand Data in the LaunchBoard
This is the Dig Deeper look – in a table format that gives you the historical as well as projected activity (decline or growth) for the occupation. The data in the LB right now is is last 5 years – historical and projected time frame is This data in LB is a good starting point and then if you want more nuanced and customized data in the Supply and Demand Tools at the COE website. 6

Labor Market Library The COE are populating a new resource library to aid regional and local planning for the Strong Workforce funding. In the application, the Chancellor’s Office requires applicants to cite their source(s) of labor market information used to justify the investment in the program. Reports included in the new Library, including those not authored by the COE, when cited by regional or local applications and used appropriately, will be given a ‘green light’ in the LMI step of the approval process. 8

Labor Market Library A dynamic webpage hosted on the DWM site that allows users to filter by Type of Report; Geography and Industry Sector All of the COE reports with relevant information for the regional and local applications will be streamed in from our COE website. Relevant EDD reports, such as the regional profiles developed for the WDB Regional Planning Units (RPUs), will be uploaded. Type of report (quantitative, qualitative or both), geography (national, state and regional), and sector affiliation (sector titles will be included as will a few others, such as Public safety and Early Childhood Education). 9

Labor Market Library How the Sector networks will help: Many rely on industry or external partner reports to guide their teams and their work with the colleges. Sector Navigators (SNs) will be forwarding reports that they believe contain information with direct relevance to local and regional applications. Deadline: We are working hard to make our Labor Market Library live by August 15th. We’d like the bulk of the submissions prior to that date. However, we will still accept submissions through November. 10

Labor Market Library Right now the Library is not live b/c it is being built as we speak. If you click on that link now you will land on the COE Supply/Demand Tools Page. After August 15th (or so) as long as the programming goes OK – when you click that link it will take you to the new Labor Market Library. Program Review/Dean/All Formats 11
