What exactly is the
Helping Kids To Recover, Inc
program?
This perinatal /parenting program provides support and direct treatment services to understand the effects of drugs, alcohol, tobacco and other harmful substances on the developing fetus, including extensive information of
Fetal Alcohol Syndrome(FAS) and is provided to teen parents and their families. “We want you to have healthy babies!”

5. At Helping Kids To Recover, Inc Moms Are Involved In:
-Perinatal Education Groups
-Parenting Groups

6. Perinatal Education Groups:
The issues covered are: perinatal care; developing birth plans; caring for your body; preparing for labor and delivery; Fetal Alcohol Syndrome; Shaken Baby Syndrome prevention; along with other “caring for newborns” topics.

7. Parenting Groups
These groups cover: growth milestones; caring for children of ages 0-5; job readiness skills; building self esteem; drug and alcohol education; establishing a healthy relationship with coordination of ancillary services.

Why?

and grow yourself!
If you decide to become a leader doing these groups,
as a leader myself, I will tell you
some things you will need to do.

11. From The Start, you will have a “things to do” list… when you run the groups……. You will:
Look at applications, or referrals
When space is available admit referrals first then applications depending on the ones that need more help
First day - start the intake focusing on the problems and abuses the person is having, as well as the family history and when the problems started and as well as learning why. Then -
finish doing the paperwork with the client, as well as go over rules, and procedures.
followed, introduce the client with all the rest of the girls.

12. How Do You Run The Group ? Here is how I run mine:
Before the group starts every Tuesday and Thursday I ask them what they want to talk about or do in group
Communication is the key !!!!! All communication is done on Facebook for my group… The members offer ideas depending on what they want to know, or any arts and crafts that they want to do this week or next.
Sometimes we have guest speakers.

If no one supports you being a single mother, and so you wants to be there for those girls that don’t have the support either and going through the same as you.
You want to put young mothers on the right track away
