The Internet is an Open System What Does That Statement Mean?
Why Is It Important? Access to the internet is available to all. That goes not only for the content, but for access to the foundation technology that runs the internet. That, of course, doesn’t mean that everything is free but much is—from browsers to open source operating systems to open source platforms for the most basic of computer work. If it were restricted to any group or groups of people, it would be a very different type of system.
