2 Probation period 1. in your employment contract, the clause 5 states the following: PROBATION The first six months of your employment period shall be a probationary period. As per the Labour Law, the Company may terminate your employment during this period without notice and without end of service gratuity. 2. Your probation period starts on 1st August 2016 and finishes on February 1st 2017

3 Leaves policy We have 5 types of leaves:
Annual leave: Summer leave, winter Break, Spring Break Sick leave: 15 calendar days Emergency Leave: 6 calendar days Maternity leave: 45 calendar days Paternity leave: 5 calendar days * PD days- Counting as on Duty

4 Leave during probation period
Under UAE Law sick leave during probation is unpaid. However, GEMS does pay sick leave in probation as long as a medical certificate is provided (even for one day’s sick leave). This is stated in the employment contracts and in the Leave policy . - if you are sick and not coming to the school please follow this steps

7 FAQ Are we allowing sick leave during probation? If yes, how is it treated?  Yes, sick leave is allowed during probation as long as a medical certificate is provided even for one day. This is GEMS Policy and is over and above UAE Law. If no medical certificate it should be unpaid When can we issue Salary Transfer Letters? Who should sign? Salary transfer letters for opening a bank account ONLY can be issued in probation as long as the letter states that the employee is under probation. Salary transfer letters for any other purpose (eg obtaining a loan) can only be issued after probation. If an employee wishes to change the account their salary is paid into they must provide a letter of no liability or account closure before the new salary transfer letter can be issued. They can only be signed by an authorized signatory (ie Varkey family) Already clarified in FAQs When can we issue loan letter? Who should sign? As above, only after probation (6 months) and signed only by authorized signatory.
