1 SEMINAR 1. Title : Organic/2D material based devices for flexible electronics 2. Speaker : Tae Hoon Lee ( Kwangwoon University ) 3. Time : 16:00 – 17:00, Thursday, May 18, 2017 4. Place : e+ Lecture Hall (room 83188), 2nd Research Building, Sungkyunkwan University 5. Summary : Organic semiconductor devices have been actively explored for low cost, large area, flexible, and transparent electronic applications. To further extend the scope of applications, it is of great importance to have efficient charge transport in polycrystalline organic thin films on flexible substrates. Since the charge transport in polycrystalline films is mainly limited by scattering at grain boundaries and interface traps, research to enlarge grain size and minimize interface traps is crucial. In this talk, I demonstrate the use of van der Waals heterostructures of organic and large-scale 2D materials (graphene and h-BN) to minimize interface traps and increase grain size for efficient charge transport. The strong epitaxial relationship between organic semiconductor and 2D materials is studied using transmission electron microscopy and supported by van der Waals ab initio calculations. Then, I demonstrate vertical transistors based on graphene/organic Schottky junction with a high current modulation. Also, I present high-performance organic transistors using large-area CVD h-BN as an organic growth template and dielectric. This technique will find a variety of applications, especially in flexible and wearable electronics of which the plastic substrates require low temperature process. 6 Background : Education Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at Stanford University, 2015 M.S. in Electrical Engineering at Stanford University, 2010 B.S. in Electrical Engineering at KAIST, 2003 Work Assistant Professor in Electrical Engineering at Kwangwoon University, 2016~ System on Chip Designer at Mtekvision Corp., 2004 ~ 2006 Software Engineer at Leadtech Corp., 2003 ~ 2004 7.
