Built common-anode transmitter circuit for Emcore VCSEL
Construction done over the weekend, but…
No Emcore VCSEL in our possession to use it with until Tuesday.

6. Receiver Board Testing
Receiver eye with no attenuation
Receiver eye with 7dB optical attenuation
Receiver circuit works, even when transmitter is connected and powered up.
No appreciable signal loss with 7dB optical attenuation.

7. Transmitter Board Testing
Tx did nothing on Friday.
5V over VCSEL leads
no signal whatsoever on the output
Diagnosis
VCSEL connected “backwards” or upside down
Not blown, as we actually were trying to drive the monitoring photodiode

Fixed the VCSEL orientation
“Eye” changed from complete noise to less random signal
Still not an eye
Similar for both AOC and Emcore VCSELs
2.06V across VCSEL, so in about the right operating range to laze
Testing is ongoing
Transmitter signal with 3dB optical attenuation
