2. The battle of Borodino is the largest battle of the war of 1812 between Russia and France. It was held on August,26 (September,9) in 1812 near the village Borodino.

3. Russian army was under the command of M.Kutuzov

4. At Borodino the Russian army, defending our country, fought with the army of the French ruler Napoleon I. By 1812 Napoleon managed to bring many European countries under his control . He organized a very large army and wanted to break up Russia. The Russian army was less than the Napoleon's army and it had to retreat.
