1 -2 Months before Deadline Register with Grants.gov Required for Institution – not the individual MUSC is already registered Register with the NIH ERA Commons Must have the PI Role Obtain a Cayuse Account Proposal Preparation Application for System-to-System Submission Identify the Correct Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA)

Prepare application directly at NIH using their system Grants.gov Forms Prepare application using Adobe forms Submitted to NIH via the Grants.gov application System-to-System Submission (Cayuse) Prepare application on a local system Submitted to NIH via Grants.gov

7 Why Cayuse? Web-based No special software required Autofill – eliminates need to enter data multiple times Print – creates PDF file of proposal Continuous validation Errors are fatal Warnings are not fatal, but make sure proposal won’t be rejected or delayed Cayuse424 and Grants.gov
