2 Status of legal framework of protected sites and existing ecological networks
Legislative framework Law of Nature protection (Official Gazette of RM 67/04, 14/06, 84/07) Overview of protected sites (83 areas), including the 7,4% of protected territory in the country (4 Strict Natural Reserve, 3 National Parks, 59 Monuments of Nature and 17 other protected areas). Responsible institutions for site protection MEPP, Administration of Environment of SNR Ezerani and Tikvesh Public Institution National Park Pelister Public Institution National Park Galicica Public Institution National Park Mavrovo Division for Environment SPS Peoni of NM Canyon Matka

Ongoing regional projects Strengthening the Ecological, Institutional and Financial sustainability of Macedonia’s Protected Area system - GEF -UNDP Support of National Park Galicica (the project is a part of cross border biosphere reserve Prespa Park) - KFW Germany National Ecological Network including Natura 2000 (MoEPP,MES,MFA)-Netherlands and ECNC Cross-border projects Establishment of the National Park Jablanica – IPA cross border RM-RA Osogovo Project , Nature conservation and sustainable development – IPA cross border RM-RB Transboundary monitoring of BD in Prespa Park –UNDP(RA-RM-RG) 7

8 Proposals for projects, Planed projets
Establishment of the National Park Jakupica - (bilateral Grant 75% and 25 % national Budget ) Future priorities are : Preparation of sub legislation, National Ecological Network and Natura 2000 Preparation of Action Plans for conservation of wildlife species and nature habitats ,Capacity building of all the structures included Nature 2000 process ,according NPAA Preparation of educational materials (posters CD’s, leaflets brochures etc.) Preparation of management plans of protected areas Workshops and training seminars for Natura2000 8
