12 Waiting for the Final Harvest

13 Rise, My Soul, to Watch and Pray CW #472
Text: Johann B. Freystein, Setting: STRAF MICH NICHT Tune: Johann Rosenmüller, , alt.

14 Verse 1 Rise, my soul, to watch and pray; From your sleep awaken! Be not by the evil day Unawares o'ertaken. For the foe, Well we know, Is a harvest reaping While the saints are sleeping.

15 Verse 2 Watch! Let not the wicked world With its lies defeat you Lest with bold deceptions hurled It betray and cheat you. Watch and see Lest there be Faithless friends to charm you Who but seek to harm you.

16 Verse 3 Watch against yourself, my soul, Lest with grace you trifle; Let not self your thoughts control Nor God's mercy stifle. Pride and sin Lurk within, All your hopes to shatter; Heed not when they flatter.

17 Verse 4 (Please Rise): But while watching also pray To the Lord unceasing. God protects you day by day, Strength and faith increasing. So that still Mind and will Shall unite to serve him And forever love him.

18 Opening Verses Pastor:
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you. All: And also with you

19 Confession of Sins Pastor: We have come into the presence of God, who created us to love and to serve him as his dear children. But we have disobeyed him and deserve only his wrath and punishment. Therefore, let us confess our sins to him and plead for his mercy.

20 Confession of Sins All:
Merciful Father in heaven, I am altogether sinful from birth. In countless ways I have sinned against you and do not deserve to be called your child.

21 Confession of Sins All: But trusting in Jesus, my Savior, I pray:
Have mercy on me according to your unfailing love. Cleanse me from my sin, and take away my guilt.

22 (Pastor announces our forgiveness)
All: Amen.

23 Prayer and Praise Pastor:
In the peace of forgiveness, let us praise the Lord:

24 Oh Taste and See All (♫): Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good.
Blessed are they who take refuge in him. Your Word, O Lord, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens.

25 Oh Taste and See All: Your faithfulness continues forever.
Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good. Blessed are they who take refuge in him.

26 (Pastor says the prayer of the day)
Pastor: Let us pray. (Pastor says the prayer of the day) All (♫): Amen.

43 Come, You Thankful People, Come CW # 613 Verses 1-4
Text: Henry Alford, , alt. Setting: ST. GEORGE’S, WINDSOR Tune: George J. Elvey,

44 Verse 1: Come, you thankful people, come; Raise the song of harvest-home. All be safely gathered in Ere the winter storms begin. God our maker shall provide For our wants to be supplied. Come to God’s own temple, come; Raise the song of harvest-home.

45 Verse 2: All the world is God’s own field, Fruit unto his praise to yield; Wheat and weeds together sown, Unto joy or sorrow grown. First the blade and then the ear, Then the full corn shall appear. Lord of harvest, grant that we Wholesome grain and pure may be.

46 Verse 3: For the Lord our God shall come And shall take his harvest home, From his field shall in that day All offenses purge away, Give his angels charge at last In the fire the weeds to cast, But the fruitful ears to store In his garner evermore.

47 Verse 4: Even so, Lord, quickly come To your final harvest-home; Gather all your people in, Free from sorrow, free from sin, There, forever purified, In your garner to abide. Come with all your angels, come; Raise the glorious harvest-home.

48 “When The Harvest Comes, What Kind of Crop Will You Be?”
