2 The Moon is Earth’s natural satellite
The pull of gravity keeps the Moon in orbit around Earth You always see the same side of the Moon; the moon turns once on its own axis each time is orbits Earth.

Many impact craters are still visible and mostly unchanged. The ground is covered with a powder of finely broken rock, called moon dust.

7 Moon Rocks Moon rocks have different ages depending on where they are found. Lunar basalt covers large areas. Basalt is the darker, younger rock. Lunar Highland is original moon rock, it is older and lighter in color.
