Accounting is planning, recording, analyzing, and interpreting financial information. Accounting system is a planned process for providing financial informaiton that will be useful to management. Lesson 1-1 5/10/2018 Basic Accounting Equation ASSETS = LIABILITIES + OWNERS EQUITY Stuff that has future economic benefit: cash, receivables, inventory, patents, equipment, etc. What’s left over is mine. Things I owe to to other people: payables, tax liabilities, loans, mortgages, etc. Like the basic laws of physics, this equation cannot be out of balance. LESSON 1-1
