1 Ocean Cruise

2 What to expect on an ocean cruise?
These days, cruise ships are rather like little floating cities – especially those crossing the ocean, which come with all the attractions of modern life offered at a more relaxing pace than on land. For those lucky enough to have weeks to spare, ocean cruising is a great way to unwind while stopping off at island getaways, palm-fringed beaches and bustling, vibrant waterfronts and harboursides, all whilst enjoying some reviving sea air. Taking an ocean cruise can be likened to going on a boat trip, a luxury resort weekend and a theme park holiday all at the same time.

3 Cruise ships and ocean liners have a shared history, though the truly massive ocean liners are almost an extinct breed now as only the RMS (Royal Mail Ship) Queen Mary 2 remains of her generation of transatlantic ships. Cruise ships feature a lot in Australia’s postwar history, as many ships such as the SS Oriana and SS Canberra brought sponsored immigrants from Europe to start new lives here.

4 There are so many different cruise lines offering sea trips and ocean liners criss-crossing the seas that there is bound to be an ocean cruise that is perfect for you. Why not check out some of the cruise deals currently available and see if there is a cruise which interests you? If you take a cruise once, the chances are that you’ll go back for another one.

5 South Pacific cruise A South Pacific cruise is a great place to start your love affair with cruise ships and at present there are plenty of cruise bargains to be found if you shop around. The South Pacific has so much to offer – pristine, blue waters reflecting clear, azure skies, lush tropical islands framed by vibrant coral reefs, alive with flickering fish and crustaceans, and the world famous warmth and hospitality of the peoples of the area. It’s pretty much cruise liner heaven!

6 Antarctic Cruises Antarctic Cruises Cruising has been a popular holiday choice for many years, but like many other types of vacation it has seen a number of trends come and go. In the 21st century, as climate change and green issues surface again and again in our daily lives, many people are looking to get out there and experience our beautiful planet whilst it's still a thing of beauty. This desire to see more of the world has given rise to a new style of cruise holiday – the eco cruise or expedition cruise – and one of the up and coming places to take such an ocean cruise is the Great Southern Ocean which rings the icy continent of Antarctica.Antarctica is a unique place – a 'white continent' of snow and ice, glaciers and icebergs and home to an incredible array of seabirds and marine creatures, including blue whales, orcas, sea lions and many penguin breeds. Embarking on an ocean cruise to this amazing place will open your eyes to some incredible sights and many cruise lines offer lectures and talks on the geology and wildlife of the region to enhance their passenger's Antarctic cruise experience.

7 Ocean pollution – Cruise Ships
Cruise ships are a major and growing source of ocean pollution.  Cruise ships produce and dump millions of gallons of inadequately treated sewage and wastewater into the sea daily.   Take a look at what cruise ships generate everyday:

8 1) Blackwater (Human waste)
2) Graywater 3) Garbage and solid waste 4) Hazardous waste (toxic waste) 5) Oily bilge water 6) Ballast water, 1,000 metric tons per release. 7) Air pollution
