12. Current Situation
The church encourages people to be stewards of 100% of what God has given them… and yet only 30% of our members have wills or living trusts.
70% of our members who have wills need to have them updated… and only 2-3% of those who go to an attorney give a gift to ministry.

LCMS donors worked with Foundation counselors to produce 264 recorded gifts in FY16
Estimated future value: $106.3 million
Bequests, beneficiary designations and other testamentary gifts
Major multi-year initiative in place to realize much higher percentage of these gifts

17. New FY16 Managed Gifts $7.1 million to 265 endowments
$1.3 million to 92 donor-advised funds
$10.1 million to 249 gift annuities and charitable remainder trusts

18. Distributions
In FY16 2,700 gifts distributed to 868 LCMS ministries totaling $30 million.
Many resulting from gift planning work done years ago.
