Highly cellular, well-vascularized tissues that are responsible for movement
Three kinds of muscle tissue; skeletal, cardiac, and smooth

2. Muscle Tissue: Skeletal
Cells are long, cylindrical, multinucleate cells with obvious striations (stripes)
Initiates and controls voluntary movement
Found in skeletal muscles that attach to bones or skin

Sheets of spindle-shaped cells with central nuclei that have no striations
Propels substances along internal passageways (i.e., peristalsis)
Found in the walls of hollow organs (such as the stomach, bladder, uterus and blood vessels)
