2 I) Introduction Three 7,7,7 Last three feasts took place in 7th month
Lev And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the feast of tabernacles for seven days unto the LORD.  fifteenth day of this seventh month seventh month seven days Three 7,7,7 This is the seventh feast This is the feast in seventh month (Tishri month) This is the feast for seven days Last three feasts took place in 7th month 1st day of 7th month was Feast of Trumpets (Lev 23.24) 10th day of 7th month was Day of Atonement (Lev 23.27) 15th day of 7th month was feast of Tabernacles (Lev 23.34).

3 Feasts of Tabernacles (Lev 23.33-43)
Lev And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the feast of tabernacles for seven days unto the LORD.  feast of tabernacles  Feast of tabernacles is seven days feast When we hear word tabernacle, what first comes in our mind? But the word tabernacles simply means booths Tabernacle Tabernacle vs tabernacles means booths 1) There was only one tabernacle Here many tabernacles in this feast 2) Tabernacle was for God This one was for Israelites 3) Tabernacle was made of 3 compartment This one was made in simplicity 4) Tabernacle reminds them God’s dwelling This one reminds them, how their forefathers stayed in booths (Lev 23.43).

4 Sukkot For tabernacles, the original Hebrew word mentioned is Sukkot
Gen And Jacob journeyed to Succoth, and built him an house, and made booths for his cattle: therefore the name of the place is called Succoth So Sukkot means small & temporary place/tents/booth God is asking them to stay in booths for 7 days to remember how their forefathers lived in tents during their wilderness journey (Lev 23.43).

5 The purpose of this feast
1) Historically: To remind them that their fathers camped in the desert (Lev 23.43) 2) Prophetically: To assure them that Lord will return to dwell with them This feast signifies the future time (1000 years) when Christ rules & reigns on this earth This feast days points to God's promise that He will once again tabernacle with His people when He returns to rain (Micah 4.1-7, Rev 21.3) This is the ultimate purpose of God for man (complete reconciliation and restoration so that He might dwell with men forever).

6 II) Biblical Practice 1. They will gather the fruit of the land first
Lev … when ye have gathered in the fruit of the land, ye shall keep a feast unto the LORD seven days: … Deut Thou shalt observe the feast of tabernacles seven days after that thou hast gathered in thy corn and thy wine This feast was celebrated after all the fruits (corn and wine Deut 16.13) of the land were gathered in That’s why this feast was also called as the Feast of Ingathering.

What is the real reason of rejoicing? B’cus they have gathered the firstfruits? Or they have afflicted their souls N.

9 III) Dwell in booths for 7 days
Lev Ye shall dwell in booths seven days; all that are Israelites born shall dwell in booths dwell in booths seven days 1. Booth reminds our Pilgrimage journey 1 Pet 2.11, Heb 11.13 1 Pet 2.11 Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers & pilgrims... We are pressing through a wilderness but wilderness is not our goal We will not receive permanent rest here Earth’s discomfort gives us strong desire for our permanent comfort (Phil 1.23, Phil 3.20, Jn ) 2. Booth reminds our Pre-planned journey Gen 15.13 Eph 2.10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them Eph 1.4 also.

Booth reminds our Painful journey For a family it’s difficult to adjust in booths because booths are small in size, no facilities, no space, no comfort 4. Booth reminds our Perilous (unsafe) journey Booths are not at all safe as compared with house 2 Cor In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren; 27In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness Acts strengthening the souls of the disciples, encouraging them to continue in the faith, and saying, "Through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God NASB.

Booth reminds our Passing (short) journey The booths were made up of the branches of different trees.
