4. What happens after construction is completed? 5. My septic is OK. Why do I have to connect? Mandatory Connection process. Requires connection to systems if a property is within 500’ of sewer lines. Used by cities, counties, authorities Pays for construction, upgrades of infrastructure Why? 6. How much will connecting cost? Current residential charges are: System Development Charge: $2,030 Covers investment into system, amount of capacity needed Sewer Connection Fee is NOT charged. Part of contract. Private connection from home to clean out. Private or personal work (if requirements are met). 8. Could I be exempt from this process? You are not exempt from the connection process. However, deferral options are available. Two connection deferral options being offered To qualify for any deferral, septic system must be proven to be in good operating condition. Permit approval by New Hanover County Must apply within 90 days of start of mandatory connection process

CFPUA offers financing for Sewer System Development Charge Available at 5% over an 8-year term Requires initial 10% down payment $64 loan processing fee (one-time, pass-through) Financing may also be available through the New Hanover County Water and Sewer Revolving Loan Program You may use private loan financing for the charges and fees. 17 Financing Options If I finance, what are the payments?
For sewer, the initial financing payment is $203.00 $ for 10% of total financing for the sewer System Development Charge ($2,030) Your bi-monthly loan payment would equal $ ($23.17 a month) You have the option to pay more initially, more per month, and/or pre-pay the full amount of the financing without penalty Financing Options
