Initiative System-wide consortium effort to strengthen IT education in Maine Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training (TAACCCT) Round 3 grant funding by the US Department of Labor Plans to serve 2,100+ students by September 2016 NMCC forecast: nearly 48 students Northern Maine Community College’s role Enhance Computer Electronics (Computer Networking & Technology) AAS & Cert. Certification Center Professional Development sessions Web Development Certification Database Administration (SQL) Certification

3 Enhancing Our Current Infrastructure
Computer Electronics (Computer Networking & Technology) Healthcare IT Technician Certification added Spring 2014 Student Navigator – Carole Belanger-Bittle Program specific counseling & support services Flexible payment options for current students Plan in place for marketing new training to past-grads Certification Center Currently a Pearson VUE authorized test site (CE classroom) Grant has money earmarked for equipping a testing facility Space being determined at this time, possibly part of Aroostook renovation project Goal is to be a comprehensive testing agency for campus and public testing

5 Current Activity At 40% of our credit-student goal (19 of 48) at close of year 1 Non-credit/exam proctoring adds exponentially Nearly 35 additional students served by these activities to date Web Development Series Web Development Fundamentals 5 week, non-credit training module to teach concepts & techniques of web development Third-party (Microsoft MTA98-363) certification exam included, proctored on campus Database Administration Fundamentals 6 weeks, non-credit training – starting January 2015 Will include Microsoft third party exam Advanced Web & Mobile Development Basics 6 weeks, non-credit training – starting in March 2015 No third party certification

6 Future Activity Entry-level Technician training
CompTIA A+ Certification training (non-credit) & both exams Following the credit-semester schedule January - May 2015 Free to students - sponsored by TAACCCT Round 3 grant funding Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Certifications Word, Excel, Outlook Continued Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) Certification training Other certifications in development Computing Basics (IC3), HTML5, Finalization of our Certification Center
