2 TS Eliot Born in 1988 in St. Louis, Missouri.
Attended Harvard University At Harvard he wrote many poems and articles for the Harvard Advocate and even after graduating continued writing Worked in London as a writer then banker Most known piece of art is The Wasteland (1922)

3 Modernism Modernism was a revolt against realism and the embracing of disruption Greatly influenced TS Eliot’s writing and, moreover, is a big part of the Wasteland

Hated modernity and all that was associated Writers include: Scott Fitzgerald, E.E. Cummings, Ernest Hemmingway, and others

5 The Wasteland An extended poem divided by 5 main sections
Meant to represent the destruction of WW1 and the depreciation of fine culture and art The title itself reflects its criticism of Europe It is very morbid Includes many allusions to older literature, art, religion, and other things

Modernist post war disappointment Increasing materialism and terrible WW1 repercussions Envision a dystopic future Both pieces of literature have similar allusions and connotations
