2 SCIENCE INSECTS: ANTS!!!

3 ANTS There are thousands of species of ants in the world. Ants are common social insects. They always live in colonies; some colonies have millions of ants in them.

4 Each ant colony consist of:
QUEEN→ The queen begins her life with wings, which he uses while mating. After mating with a male ant or many ants, she flies to her nesting area. She then loses her wings and spends her life laying eggs.

5 WORKERS→ Workers are female ants, they wingless and sterile
WORKERS→ Workers are female ants, they wingless and sterile. These are the daughters of the queen. They find food, care for the queen and offspring, build the nest.

6 SOLDIERS→ They are large workers (sterile females), who defend the colony and often raid other colonies.

7 MALES→ They are small ants that have wings
MALES→ They are small ants that have wings. Males fly from the colony to mate with a queen. They die soon after wards. CURIOSITY!!! Ants can carry 20 times their weight.

10 GRASSHOPPERS!!!

11 GRASSHOPPERS Grasshoppers are insects that can hop, walk and fly. Many male grasshoppers make noise by rubbing their back legs together. There are a thousand different species of grasshoppers. Like a insects, grasshoppers have a head, a thorax and an abdomen. They have got six legs, two pairs of wings and two antennae. The long hind legs are used for hopping; the short front legs are used to hold prey and to walk. Their body is covered with a hard exoskeleton. Grasshoppers breathe throught some holes colled spiracles. Most grasshoppers are green, brown or olive green. Grasshoppers eat plants.

18 It’s a hot summer day. The sun is shining and everybody is outside
It’s a hot summer day. The sun is shining and everybody is outside. Jerry, the grasshopper, is sitting under a big tree and he is resting. He is playing his guitar and he is singing. Annie the ant, is busy. She is collecting food for the winter. Her basket is full of berries and nuts.

19 Jerry says to the ant that there is a lot of food everywhere
Jerry says to the ant that there is a lot of food everywhere. Then he puts his guitar on the grass and lies down. Annie laughs and she continues working.

21 At five o’ clock, Jerry knocks at the door

It’s summer again. Annie and Jerry go outside every day. They collect berries and nuts for the long cold winter. Then they sit and rest under the big tree and sing song.

23 THERE IS A TIME FOR WORK AND A TIME FOR PLAY!
The fable’s moral is: THERE IS A TIME FOR WORK AND A TIME FOR PLAY! HARD WORK ALWAYS PLAYS!
