3. The Legal Services Act 2007

4. Sentence Completion
Whereas solicitors complete a two-year training contract in order to qualify, barristers must complete a one-year pupillage in chambers.
In order to qualify as a barrister, students must hold an LLB, complete one year of vocational training in a law school and spend a year working as an apprentice in chambers.
If a barrister wishes to become a member of Queen’s Counsel, he must have at least ten years of experience working in the legal profession.
Judges are appointed by the Judicial Appointments Commission, and are generally solicitors and barristers with at least five to ten years of experience.

Any law student WHO wants to become a solicitor or a barrister must complete a one year vocational course in a law school.
A solicitor WHO handles the early stages of litigation will have a different experience than a barrister WHO is appointed at a later stage.
