5 Love God with all your Mind: Emotions
It’s hard to define feelings; there’s no complete list: sensations, emotions and desires/passions. We feel dizzy, thirsty, sleepy, weary, lonely, sexy/sensual, jealous, successful, compassionate. We’re happy or sad, fearful. We have the sensation of dread or ecstasy.

Love should rule our lives – make this your vision, your dream.
5 Love God with all your Mind: Emotions We experience love/ hate, joy/depression, peace/anxiety. If feelings become moods permeating our being, they control our life. Eg: fear, anger and bitterness. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many. (Heb b) Love should rule our lives – make this your vision, your dream.

(Ps 37:4) Body: What is causing the quarrels and fights among you? Don’t they come from the evil [sensual] desires at war within you [ie in your body]? (James 4:1) Social: For wherever there is jealousy and selfish ambition, there you will find disorder and evil of every kind. (James 3.16) [the good Samaritan] felt compassion on him [the victim of assault]. (Lk 10.33) Soul: My soul faints with longing for your salvation. (Psalm 119:81)

Living by feelings Many live controlled by their feelings, not by morals and character. They’re YOLO-ed. They get addicted, a feeling phenomenon of giving in to pleasure.

5 Love God with all your Mind: Emotions
Living by feelings I have told you often before, and I say it again with tears in my eyes, that there are many whose conduct shows they are really enemies of the cross of Christ. They are headed for destruction. Their god is their appetite [desires, sensuality], they brag about shameful things, and they think only about this life here on earth. (Phil ) Feelings can be like little children clamoring for our attention, "Gimme, gimme, gimme.”

Living by feelings Unless we train our emotions they will lead us around by the nose, and we will be captives to every passing impulse or reaction. Oswald Chambers

How to tame and train our emotions 2. Process them. What’s the source? “Why are you so angry?” the Lord asked Cain. “Why do you look so dejected? (Gen. 4.6) Why am I discouraged [why am I in despair, O my soul?] Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again—my Savior and my God! (Ps a) Women may be better than men at this
