DESIGN TASK

The Mission Statement of our TEam is:
To design, build, test, and sell a device that allows teenagers/young adults to safely walk on the surface of pool water for a cost lower than $100.

Table 1. Customer Needs to Specs
What the customer wants SPECS 88.5% of people want a device that will cost more than $20 The device will be more than $20 so it does not feel cheap, but it will cost less than $45 54% of people want a device that lasts 1-3 years Made out of materials that are durable, but inexpensive 4 out of 33 people say that they want to "be like Jesus" Standing straight up on the surface of water and still having the ability to walk like they are on land Many say able to walk on water/stay afloat Enough surface area/buoyancy to keep a person under 210 lbs afloat (25 Gal) Function over looks "cool" Money should not be spent on looks if the function is not yet up to par 12 out of 35 people say the device should be blue Blue will make the device appealing to 12/35 people 48.7% of people say the device should fit in a backpack The device should be smaller than 2ft by 1ft if possible. Width should be less than 8 inches. Device should be lightweight 37.14% of peope say the device should be in between fitting in trunk/backpack If the device is bigger than the above specifications, then it is still OK

DESIGN PROCESS

The Design Process Requires Brainstorming before deciding to commit to a Final Idea.

ENGINEERING ANALYSIS

Our calculations were flawed before the first test, but correct before the second.

The Subsystems of our design can be broken down into three categories.
