1 Learning Academies Trust …………………………………… A Plymouth Teaching School Alliance Multi Academy Trust ………………………………….... 11-18

2 What is the Learning Academies Trust?
Not for profit educational charity. Three Primary schools: Prince Rock Primary School Salisbury Road Primary School Woodfield Primary School One city wide National Teaching School Alliance Core values: Every child deserves an outstanding education. Schools do better working together. Every school has a unique character.

3 Members – safeguard core values.
The LAT Structure Members – safeguard core values. Directors – strategic overview, financial probity and overall standards of each school. Local Governing Bodies – children’s safety and well being, attainment and progress of children in that school, managing delegated budget, what children learn, appointment of staff. CEO – ensures Trust is focused on improving outcomes for children, manages Trust staff. Heads of schools and Headteachers – ensure each school is focused on improving outcomes for children.

4 Where we plan to work together
School improvement strategies. Training and development of staff. Strengthening leadership. Relentless pursuit of outstanding outcomes for children. Business functions (eventually!) – Potentially in - IT, - finance, - HR, - premises management, - health and safety.

5 Benefits of formal collaboration
School leaders will meet regularly to share improvement strategies and plan together. There will be a MAT SLT, a Multi Academy Trust Senior Leadership Team School staff will train together; there will be high quality CPD as part of a genuine learning community School leaders will challenge and support each other. Governors will also be challenged and supported to govern effectively. School leaders will focus on children; The Trust staff will manage buildings, IT, finance, HR, etc. The might of the Plymouth Teaching Alliance (PTSA) will be right behind us and working alongside us.

6 Other issues to consider
It is new so it may take our staff some time to adjust. However we generally don’t think this will be a real issue and we believe staff will adjust quite quickly. From a parent and child perspective, we really don’t think you will notice any significant day to day difference. The school names, logos, uniforms etc WILL NOT CHANGE.

7 The unofficial bit Academies are here to stay.
The current government want to see all schools as academies in Multi Academy Trusts by 2020. There are no significant dissenting voices nationally. All parties support versions of them and there’s 4 years until an election. Collaborative MATs are different to single stand alone old fashioned academies.

8 We believe we can make it work well for our children
Together we will provide something bigger and better for your children AND SIGNIFICANTLY! We would rather be in charge of the agenda, developing our own MAT, that works for us, rather than being forced in to someone else’s later!
