2. Multiplication
Whole Number Multiplication: Multiplying a 4-digit factor by a 2-digit factor using a standard algorithm
Multiplication with Decimals: Multiplying decimals by whole numbers and decimals by decimals. Products will only go to the hundredths. Multiplying using hundredths models and an algorithm

3. Division
Whole Number Division: Divide with a 2-digit divisor and a 4-digit dividend using a standard algorithm
Division with a Decimal: Divide with a whole number divisor and a 4-digit decimal number dividend. Students will divide using a model and using a standard algorithm

4. Fractions Students will add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions
Fractions will have different denominators
Students will solve problems with fractions using models and an algorithm

5. Graphs
Students will use frequency tables, dot plots, stem and leaf plots, and bar graphs to solve problems
Data will be represented as whole numbers, decimals, and fractions

6. Algebra
Students will see a letter representing a number for the first time
Students will learn the difference between an expression and an equation
Students will write expressions to match a given problem

7. Coordinate Grids
Students will use x and y points to find locations on the first quadrant of a coordinate grid
Points will be given as whole numbers, decimals, and fractions
Students will learn about a special type of coordinate grid called a scatterplot. This grid shows a relationship between the x and y axis

8. Conversions Students will convert measurements within the same system
They will convert customary measurements to other customary measurements and metric measurements to other metric measurements

9. Geometry Students will classify shapes according to their attributes
Students will be learning many new vocabulary terms in this unit

10. Financial Literacy
Students will learn about various taxes, budgets, and banking
Students will learn a lot of new vocabulary

11. Helpful Hints Students need to know their multiplication facts quickly
Allow students the opportunity to do their homework on their own
Have your child show you his/her different way to solve a problem with a model
