2 Put this money to work until I come back.
1 Jesus said, a nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom and then return. Calling ten of his servants, he gave them ten minas. A mina is a unit of money worth about three months wages for an average worker. Put this money to work until I come back.

3 My people have rejected me! Will my servants still be faithful to me?
3 But his citizens hated him and sent a delegation after him, saying, 'We do not want this man to reign over us.' My people have rejected me! Will my servants still be faithful to me?

4 When he returned, he called the servants...
What have you done with the money I gave you? 4

5 Well done good servant. You can rule over 10 of my cities.
5 The king rewarded each servant according to what he had gained. Some received more reward than others according to what they gained. Well done good servant. You can rule over 10 of my cities. Lord, your mina has gained 10 minas more.

6 6 Here is your mina, which I kept hidden; I was afraid of you, because you are a hard man. Why didn’t you deposit my money in the bank? Take his mina from him and give it to someone else!

7 7 As for these enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, bring them here and slaughter them before me.
