1 Data gathering and assessment of Regional stormwater gis data (Phase 1)
NNWPC Agenda Item 5 Jeremy M. Smith, TMRPA Jim Smitherman, NNWPC \WRWC 6/7/2017 : NNWPC Agenda Item 5

2 Objective Request by the Western Regional Water Commission to investigate, compile and complete a GIS network describing stormwater conveyance in the Truckee Meadows. Initial scope contemplated 3 phases: Data gathering and assessment GIS data editing and data completion of stormwater conveyance network Creation of ancillary data layers (e.g. impervious surface, hillside drainage networks) Approval of funds for Phase 1: Data Gathering and Assessment Detailed scope of work for Phase 1 attached to item 5 of your packet

3 Study Area Evaluated by hydro basin
Focus on Washoe County developed metro area TMSA Washoe Valley Adjacent northern valleys Includes areas outside the Truckee River drainage (e.g. Cold Springs)

4 Analysis Approach Initial effort to gather all existing data
Help from Jim Smitherman to coordinate contacts and data acquisition Assessment of connectivity and coverage in each hydrobasin will compare the extent of existing stormwater data to the presence of developed areas as indicated by GIS data describing development. For example: NLCD urbanized areas Built parcels as indicated by the Washoe County Assessor The presence of roads data or other municipal-type infrastructure Assessment of attribute information from all sources with comparison of fields included by managing entitiy and accounting of cell fill rates

5 Deliverables Centralized storage of existing GIS data describing stormwater conveyance in TMRPA regional data warehouse Data will be available to all participating agencies Next phase, if approved, would build on this data to create a connected regional network of stormwater conveyance Phase 1 Final Report describing the findings of the project Metrics describing existing data coverage and completeness by hydro basin Maps Presentation summarizing findings to be given to the NNWPC, WRWC and TMRPA boards

6 Schedule Month Activities 1
Connect with staff at identified local entities and acquire GIS data describing stormwater conveyance. 2 Data compilation and GIS assessment using available features. Includes targeted field verification of GIS data. 3 Reconnect with jurisdiction staff and present draft findings for review and critique. Perform needed edits to meet staff recommendations. 4 Draft final report with vetted findings and present to NNWPC, WRWC, and RPGB Work will commence in the July-September timeframe, to be completed by the end of calendar year 2017 Flexibility in start time needed as this effort coincides with increased staff time toward the Regional Plan Update
