1 What kind? WHY?

2 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed. Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be (2 Peter 3:10-11)

3 Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit"-- yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring (James 4:13)

4 ….therefore, any one of you who does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple.
(Luke 14:33)

5 YOU ARE NOT YOUR OWN

6 do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)

7 YOU WEAR THE NAME OF JESUS

8 in Antioch the disciples were first called Christians. (Acts 11:26)

9 having been set free from sin, [you] have become slaves of righteousness.
(Romans 6:18)

10 His master said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant
His master said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master. (Matthew 25:23)

11 YOUR INSTERESTS ARE NOT IN THE HERE AND NOW

12 You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. (James 4:4)

13 But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ
(Philippians 3:20)

14 Therefore go out from their midst, and be separate from them, says the Lord, and touch no unclean thing; then I will welcome you (2 Corinthians 6:17)

15 Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own
Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 3:13-14)

16 And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, 2if we do not give up.
(Galatians 6:9)
