Ingestion = food enters the mouth Digestion = process that breaks food down into small molecules

Ingestion = food enters the mouth Digestion = process that breaks food down into small molecules Mechanical digestion = food is chewed and churned Chemical digestion = breaks down large food molecules into smaller molecules to be absorbed by cells
