3 Many Do Not Believe in Hell
A poll was recently taken in this city which indicated 90% of the people believed in the existence of God but only 10% believed in the existence of Satan. The only things we can know of the unseen which includes the hereafter can only be revealed by God! Jesus made this point in His ministry. (John 3:11-13, 8:38, 42)

4 Many Do Not Believe in Hell
(John 3:11-13 NKJV) “Most assuredly, I say to you, We speak what We know and testify what We have seen, and you do not receive Our witness. {12} “If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things?

5 Many Do Not Believe in Hell
{13} “No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven.

6 Many Do Not Believe in Hell
(John 8:38 NKJV) “I speak what I have seen with My Father, and you do what you have seen with your father.”

7 Many Do Not Believe in Hell
(John 8:42 NKJV) Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and came from God; nor have I come of Myself, but He sent Me.

8 Many Do Not Believe in Hell
We too can see the unseen but only through the word of God! (Heb 11:27)

9 Many Do Not Believe in Hell
(Hebrews 11:27 NKJV) - By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured as seeing Him who is invisible.

10 Many Do Not Believe in Hell
The nature of true faith is seen in how we respond to these areas!

11 Many Do Not Believe in Hell
The nature of true faith is seen in how we respond to these areas! It is easy to believe in things that we can see by sight.

12 Many Do Not Believe in Hell
We are showing true faith when we rely on what God’s word plainly teaches in spite of what our “background” may say. (1 Peter 1:17-19)

13 Many Do Not Believe in Hell
(1 Peter 1:17-19 NKJV) - And if you call on the Father, who without partiality judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves throughout the time of your stay here in fear; {18} knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers,

14 Many Do Not Believe in Hell
{19} but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.

15 Many Do Not Believe in Hell
How do we pray?

16 Many Do Not Believe in Hell
How do we pray? Most religious people believe what they want to, not what they have sought to learn from the word of God.

17 Many Do Not Believe in Hell
How do we pray? Most religious people believe what they want to, not what they have sought to learn from the word of God. How could someone believe in God of the Bible and not believe in hell?

18 Is there a Hell? There are many who boldly proclaim that there is no hell. (2 Pet 3:4-7)

19 Is there a Hell? (2 Peter 3:4-7 NKJV) and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.” {5} For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water,

20 Is there a Hell? {6} by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water. {7} But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

21 Is there a Hell? Once again Ted Turner has apologized for calling Christianity a religion for losers. This time the cable news network chief not only apologized but told the folks at a Baptist church luncheon "I'm looking forward to dying and going to hell because that's where I'm headed." If he only knew what it was like.

22 Is there a Hell? Robert Ingersoll labeled hell the "scarecrow of religion." Then he announced: The idea of hell was born of revenge and brutality on the one side, and cowardice on the other. I have no respect for any man who preaches it. I dislike this doctrine, I hate it, I despise it, I defy this doctrine!

23 Is there a Hell? Jesus taught that there was life after death for all men. (Luke 16:19-31)

24 Is there a Hell? (Luke 16:19-31 NKJV) “There was a certain rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and fared sumptuously every day. {20} “But there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, full of sores, who was laid at his gate, {21} “desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table. Moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.

25 Is there a Hell? {22} “So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died and was buried. {23} “And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

26 Is there a Hell? {24} “Then he cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.’ {25} “But Abraham said, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is comforted and you are tormented.

27 Is there a Hell? {26} ‘And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from there pass to us.’ {27} “Then he said, ‘I beg you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father’s house, {28} ‘for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, lest they also come to this place of torment.’

28 Is there a Hell? {29} “Abraham said to him, ‘They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.’ {30} “And he said, ‘No, father Abraham; but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’ {31} “But he said to him, ‘If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead.’”

29 Is there a Hell? While this is not the final abode of the wicked, we learn that torment begins before one enters into hell. (Rev 20:12-15)

30 Is there a Hell? (Revelation 20:12-15 NKJV) And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books.

31 Is there a Hell? {13} The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. {14} Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. {15} And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.

32 Is there a Hell? It will be after the resurrection that men will receive their final condemnation. (John 5:28-29)

33 Is there a Hell? (John 5:28-29 NKJV) “Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice {29} “and come forth; those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.

34 Is there a Hell? Jesus taught there will be a place for all the wicked to abide in conscious existence for eternity. (Mark 9:43-47)

35 Is there a Hell? (Mark 9:43-47 NKJV) “If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life maimed, rather than having two hands, to go to hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched; {44} “where ‘Their worm does not die, And the fire is not quenched.’

36 Is there a Hell? {45} “And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life lame, rather than having two feet, to be cast into hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched; {46} “where ‘Their worm does not die, And the fire is not quenched.’ {47} “And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire;

37 Is there a Hell? The word for “hell” is from the Greek word Gehenna.

38 Is there a Hell? The word for “hell” is from the Greek word Gehenna.
Jesus showed that Hell could not mean simply dying! There is something worse.

39 Is there a Hell? The word for “hell” is from the Greek word Gehenna.
Jesus showed that Hell could not mean simply dying! There is something worse. Jesus warned men not to go to hell. (Matt 5:22,29-30, 10:28)

40 Is there a Hell? (Matthew 5:22 NKJV) “But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, ‘Raca!’ shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says, ‘You fool!’ shall be in danger of hell fire.

41 Is there a Hell? (Matthew 5:29-30 NKJV) “If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell. {30} “And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.

42 Is there a Hell? (Matthew 10:28 NKJV) “And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

43 Is there a Hell? Jesus knew that most men will walk this path to destruction! (Mt 7:13-14)

44 Is there a Hell? (Matthew 7:13-14 NKJV) “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. {14} “Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

45 Is there a Hell? Still Jesus was grieved over those who rejected Him. (Matt 23:33-39)

46 Is there a Hell? (Matthew 23:33-39 NKJV) - “Serpents, brood of vipers! How can you escape the condemnation of hell? {34} “Therefore, indeed, I send you prophets, wise men, and scribes: some of them you will kill and crucify, and some of them you will scourge in your synagogues and persecute from city to city,

47 Is there a Hell? {35} “that on you may come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah, son of Berechiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar. {36} “Assuredly, I say to you, all these things will come upon this generation.

48 Is there a Hell? {37} “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing! {38} “See! Your house is left to you desolate; {39} “for I say to you, you shall see Me no more till you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD!’”

49 Is there a Hell? Why would Jesus show such grief?

50 What is hell like? It is torment. (Luke 16:28; Rev 14:11)

51 What is hell like? (Luke 16:28 NKJV) ‘for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, lest they also come to this place of torment.’

52 What is hell like? Revelation 14:11 (NKJV) - And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name.”

53 What is hell like? What will it be like to taste the full wrath of God?

54 What is hell like? We know that weeping and wailing will be within the souls of those in hell. (Matt 13:40-42, 49-50)

55 What is hell like? (Matthew 13:40-42 NKJV) “Therefore as the tares are gathered and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of this age. {41} “The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness, {42} “and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

56 What is hell like? (Matthew 13:49-50 NKJV) “So it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come forth, separate the wicked from among the just, {50} “and cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.”

57 What is hell like? It involves an eternal fire. (Matt 18:9, Mark 9:43, 45, 47)

58 What is hell like? (Matthew 18:9 NKJV) “And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire.

59 What is hell like? (Mark 9:43 NKJV) “If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life maimed, rather than having two hands, to go to hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched;

60 What is hell like? (Mark 9:45 NKJV) “And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life lame, rather than having two feet, to be cast into hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched;

61 What is hell like? (Mark 9:47 NKJV) “And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire;

62 What is hell like? While hell is a place for a spiritual body, this is the closest description the Lord could give of this place.

63 What is hell like? Even in the place before hell there is a “flame”. (Luke 16:24)

64 What is hell like? (Luke 16:24 NKJV) “Then he cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.’

65 What is hell like? Have you ever been burned? (Ex. Truck driver trapped in wreck)

66 What is hell like? It involves an eternal darkness. (2 Pt 2:4, 17; Mt 8:11-12; 22:13-14; 25:30)

67 What is hell like? (Matthew 8:11-12 NKJV) “And I say to you that many will come from east and west, and sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. {12} “But the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

68 What is hell like? (Matthew 22:13-14 NKJV) “Then the king said to the servants, ‘Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’ {14} “For many are called, but few are chosen.”

69 What is hell like? (Matthew 25:30 NKJV) ‘And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

70 What is hell like? (2 Peter 2:4 NKJV) For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment;

71 What is hell like? (2 Peter 2:17 NKJV) These are wells without water, clouds carried by a tempest, for whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever.

72 What is hell like? How dark is hell? Peter says it is “blackness of darkness.”

73 What is hell like? Ex. An account of one man who visited a cave in the state of Kentucky.

74 What is hell like? Ex. An account of one man who visited a cave in the state of Kentucky. There will be no escape from hell.

75 What is hell like? No one could escape the torment before hell. (Luke 16:26)

76 What is hell like? (Luke 16:26 NKJV) ‘And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from there pass to us.’

77 What is hell like? One is described as being in “chains”. (2 Peter 2:4)

78 What is hell like? (2 Peter 2:4 NKJV) For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment;

79 What is hell like? It is a place of regret.

80 What is hell like? Even the rich man was grieved over his not influencing his brothers for good! (Luke 16:27-28)

81 What is hell like? (Luke 16:27-28 NKJV) “Then he said, ‘I beg you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father’s house, {28} ‘for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, lest they also come to this place of torment.’

82 What is hell like? Are there degrees of punishment? (Luke 12:47-48)

83 What is hell like? (Luke 12:47-48 NKJV) “And that servant who knew his master’s will, and did not prepare himself or do according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. {48} “But he who did not know, yet committed things deserving of stripes, shall be beaten with few. For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more.

84 What is hell like? It is a place of unspeakable wickedness. (Matt 25:41)

85 What is hell like? (Matthew 25:41 NKJV) “Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels:

86 We will face very different times during the course of our life.
Changes will come in our lives in many ways.

87 What should this knowledge do for me?
It will change my view about what is important.

88 What should this knowledge do for me?
It will change my view about what is important. God’s salvation is the most important thing of all! (Rom 1:16-18; 11:22)

89 What should this knowledge do for me?
(Romans 1:16-18 NKJV) For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. {17} For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”

90 What should this knowledge do for me?
{18} For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,

91 What should this knowledge do for me?
(Romans 11:22 NKJV) Therefore consider the goodness and severity of God: on those who fell, severity; but toward you, goodness, if you continue in His goodness. Otherwise you also will be cut off.

92 What should this knowledge do for me?
Working for the cause of Christ becomes my passion. I will not let anything get in the way.

93 What should this knowledge do for me?
Working for the cause of Christ becomes my passion. I will not let anything get in the way. Those who understand hell will not be sidetracked by “hypocrites in the church.”

94 What should this knowledge do for me?
It will give me a deep hatred for sin. (Heb 12:25-26)

95 What should this knowledge do for me?
(Hebrews 12:25-26 NKJV) See that you do not refuse Him who speaks. For if they did not escape who refused Him who spoke on earth, much more shall we not escape if we turn away from Him who speaks from heaven, {26} whose voice then shook the earth; but now He has promised, saying, “Yet once more I shake not only the earth, but also heaven.”

96 What should this knowledge do for me?
I will not remain comfortable in walking in sin.

97 What should this knowledge do for me?
I will not remain comfortable in walking in sin. I will hasten to resolve and end problems with my brethren. (Matt 5:23-26)

98 What should this knowledge do for me?
(Matthew 5:23-26 NKJV) “Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, {24} “leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.

99 What should this knowledge do for me?
{25} “Agree with your adversary quickly, while you are on the way with him, lest your adversary deliver you to the judge, the judge hand you over to the officer, and you be thrown into prison. {26} “Assuredly, I say to you, you will by no means get out of there till you have paid the last penny.

100 What should this knowledge do for me?
It will deepen my reverence for God. (Heb 11:7; 12:28)

101 What should this knowledge do for me?
(Hebrews 11:7 NKJV) - By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.

102 What should this knowledge do for me?
(Hebrews 12:28 NKJV) - Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear.

103 What should this knowledge do for me?
You will see it in your attitude towards worship.

104 What should this knowledge do for me?
You will see it in your attitude towards worship. When the Bible is quoted you will not feel comfortable in “shrugging it off.”

105 What should this knowledge do for me?
It will make me urgent. (2 Cor 5:10-11)

106 What should this knowledge do for me?
(2 Corinthians 5:10-11 NKJV) For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. {11} Knowing, therefore, the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are well known to God, and I also trust are well known in your consciences.

107 What should this knowledge do for me?
You will not have to be begged to do the Lord’s work.

108 What should this knowledge do for me?
You will not have to be begged to do the Lord’s work. Ex. The Midwest floods, everyone helped.

109 What should this knowledge do for me?
You will not have to be begged to do the Lord’s work. Ex. The Midwest floods, everyone helped. Will you believe in Hell now or later?

110 What should this knowledge do for me?
You will not have to be begged to do the Lord’s work. Ex. The Midwest floods, everyone helped. Will you believe in Hell now or later? Remember Robert Ingersoll?

111 What should this knowledge do for me?
You will not have to be begged to do the Lord’s work. Ex. The Midwest floods, everyone helped. Will you believe in Hell now or later? Remember Robert Ingersoll? His dying words: “O God, if there be a God! Save my soul, if I have a soul!”

112 What should this knowledge do for me?
Dying Words Of Atheists:

113 What should this knowledge do for me?
Dying Words Of Atheists: Charters: "I would gladly give thirty thousand pounds to have proved there is no hell."

114 What should this knowledge do for me?
Dying Words Of Atheists: Charters: "I would gladly give thirty thousand pounds to have proved there is no hell." Hobbs: "I say again, if I had the whole world at my disposal, I would give it to live one day. I am about to take a leap into the dark."

115 What should this knowledge do for me?
Ingersoll: "0 God, if there be a God, save my soul, if I have a soul, from hell, if there be a hell."

116 What should this knowledge do for me?
Tom Paine (He wrote The Age of Reason, predicting it would replace the Bible. The same presses used to print his book were later used to print Bibles.): "Stay with me, for God's sake. I cannot bear to be left alone. 0 Lord, help me. 0 God, what have I done to suffer so much? What will become of me hereafter?"

117 What should this knowledge do for me?
Caesar Borgia: "While I lived, I provided for everything but death; now I must die and am unprovided to die."

118 What should this knowledge do for me?
Voltaire: "I am abandoned by God and man; I will give you half of what I am worth, if you will give me six month's life," to the doctor treating him. When told it could not be done, he continued, "Then I shall die and go to hell."

119 What should this knowledge do for me?
Sir Thomas Scott: "Until this mo ment I thought there was neither a God nor a hell. Now I know and feel there are both, and I am doomed to perdition by the just judgment of the Almighty.”

120 What should this knowledge do for me?
Sir Thomas Scott: "Until this mo ment I thought there was neither a God nor a hell. Now I know and feel there are both, and I am doomed to perdition by the just judgment of the Almighty.“ How many people today laugh at hell?

121 What should this knowledge do for me?
Sir Thomas Scott: "Until this mo ment I thought there was neither a God nor a hell. Now I know and feel there are both, and I am doomed to perdition by the just judgment of the Almighty.“ How many people today laugh at hell? What will judgment day be like for you? (Mark 8:38)

122 What should this knowledge do for me?
(Mark 8:38 NKJV) “For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.”
