2 GGF Intellectual Property Policy
I acknowledge that participation in GGF is subject to the GGF Intellectual Property Policy. Intellectual Property Notices Note Well: All statements related to the activities of the GGF and addressed to the GGF are subject to all provisions of Section 17 of GFD-C.1 (.pdf), which grants to the GGF and its participants certain licenses and rights in such statements. Such statements include verbal statements in GGF meetings, as well as written and electronic communications made at any time or place, which are addressed to: the GGF plenary session, any GGF working group or portion thereof, the GFSG, or any member thereof on behalf of the GFSG, the GFAC, or any member thereof on behalf of the GFAC, any GGF mailing list, including any working group or research group list, or any other list functioning under GGF auspices, the GFD Editor or the GWD process. Statements made outside of a GGF meeting, mailing list or other function, that are clearly not intended to be input to an GGF activity, group or function, are not subject to these provisions. Excerpt from Section 17 of GFD-C.1 Where the GFSG knows of rights, or claimed rights, the GGF secretariat shall attempt to obtain from the claimant of such rights, a written assurance that upon approval by the GFSG of the relevant GGF document(s), any party will be able to obtain the right to implement, use and distribute the technology or works when implementing, using or distributing technology based upon the specific specification(s) under openly specified, reasonable, non-discriminatory terms. The working group or research group proposing the use of the technology with respect to which the proprietary rights are claimed may assist the GGF secretariat in this effort. The results of this procedure shall not affect advancement of document, except that the GFSG may defer approval where a delay may facilitate the obtaining of such assurances. The results will, however, be recorded by the GGF Secretariat, and made available. The GFSG may also direct that a summary of the results be included in any GFD published containing the specification.   GGF Intellectual Property Policies are adapted from the IETF Intellectual Property Policies that support the Internet Standards Process. 4 OGSA-WG Resource Mgmt Design Team
Continues CGS-WG and CMM-WG work Mission Work on management and manageability in OGSA Make sure that manageability is present in OGSA Guide work to unify OGSA’s management and manageability framework Use CIM to provide unification (e.g., of concepts) Provide a group of experts for consultations Liaise with DMTF, OASIS WSDM, etc. Not mission Functional interfaces Creating and/or extending resource models June 2005 GGF14

5 Current Work: Resource Modeling
Work in OGSA is transitioning to concrete specs OGSA-WG defines profiles Other WGs or standards bodies define specs This started concrete work in resource models Collaborate closely with OGSA-WG, its spin-offs, and other WGs doing resource modeling WGs have area expertise We bring modeling expertise First collaboration with OGSA-BES-WG Resource model for “container” and “activities” June 2005 GGF14

6 Resource Modeling for OGSA-BES
Two activities on OGSA-BES Subset of existing model that covers JSDL Working on a CIM subset CIM-GLUE-JSDL comparison For completeness, and mapping to existing work Note: for now this is about resource model semantics Base-profile-independent Rendering(s) to be worked on later June 2005 GGF14

10 WSDM sessions WSDM Deep Dive: Detailed explanation of the WSDM specs to the GGF, with discussion 9 - 10:30 AM, Wellington 2 room (booked as "OGSA-WG session #8") WSDM-OGSA-CDDLM joint session :30 PM, Consulate 1&2 rooms (booked as "OGSA-WG session #9") Multi-vendor WSDM demo 2 - 3:30 PM, Governor's Suite Mini-demo right before 2 PM June 2005 GGF14

11 Work on CIM Promoting CIM as resource model
CIM and OGSA are about unification, good match OGSA-WG interested in management and in CIM Ultimately, profile CIM for use in OGSA Select pieces of CIM for each OGSA capability “Demand-driven” In a “Bottom-up” way Add to each OGSA profile No need for integration (already integrated) June 2005 GGF14

12 OGSA-WG Resource Mgmt Design Team (2)
Discussions done on OGSA-WG mailing list On-demand teleconferences, Tuesdays at: 11:00-12:00 US Pacific (GMT - 7) 12:00-13:00 US Mountain (GMT - 6) 13:00-14:00 US Central (GMT - 5) 14:00-15:00 US Eastern (GMT - 4) 18:00-19:00 GMT 19:00-20:00 UK (GMT + 1) 20:00-21:00 Central Europe (GMT + 2) 03:00-04:00 Japan (GMT + 9, following day) -- sorry. 18 Where CIM Work is Done Extensions are designed collaboratively with the DMTF Work is done within the GGF WGs (teleconferences and mailing lists, and not necessarily GGF conferences) Work directly with DMTF, not through CGS-WG DMTF representatives support design work Tedious and detailed modeling and schema development based on collaborative design will be handled by DMTF Iterative process SRIM work moves from CGS-WG to DAIS-WG, DAIS-WG collaborates directly with DMTF Still, need a place for coordination and broader work CMM-WG, and part of CGS-WG, become OGSA-WG Resource Management design team June 2005 GGF14
