3. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
Early Romanticism and introducing …The Novel of Manners !
After all…“It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife.”

4. Survey of Poetry Packet
a collection of poetry represented through the major literary periods
Periods Include: Renaissance, Romanticism, Victorian, and Realism

5. After you read, what do you do ?
For the Novels….
Read both works.
Select one of the novels and complete the Literary Review form found all three teachers’ webpages…
3. Authentically do the work and reading…copying from Lit. Charts or Spark Notes is cheating !
4. NOT doing the work defeats the whole purpose of the course !

6. Where do you find the find the information ?
Look on the Cypress Bay Webpage- look for AP Lit. Summer Reading or go to the faculty page. Look for and link to a webpages-Machado, McNeely, or Waite.

7. What do I do with the Poetry Packet?
Students are to do the following for each work found in the packet:
1.Collect a Poetry Packet or download your own. YOU MUST HAVE A HARDCOPY OF THE WORKS.
2. Read and annotate each work. This is not just underlining some stuff or circling a word or two !
3. Create a quotation diary entry for each work of the packet. See handout for specific requirements.

8. What do we want from you ?
Show us that you thought and felt about the work
Show us that you took some time to reply and analyze
Show us that you can do the job....

9. When is this all due ?
We hit the ground running... the first day of the new school year begins your “adventure” in the world of literature !
The ONE literary review doc is due the first week of school in August, 2017.
The Survey of Poetry Packet- annotations and quotation diary is due the second week of school in August,
