1 Jeremy Coles, STFC-RAL GDB meeting @Prague, April 4, 2007
Introduction Jeremy Coles, STFC-RAL GDB April 4, 2007

2 From the last meeting Minutes of the March meeting at the GDB wiki page Minutes, Summary and Actions now also on GDB wiki Actions from previous meetings:

3 Membership French Tier2 representative – Frederique Chollet
Welcome Any other changes?

4 always on the first Wednesday of the month
GDB meetings in 2007 To avoid confusion in 2007, the GDB is always on the first Wednesday of the month Tentatively a room has been reserved for pre-GDB meetings except May and August 30th. January 10 February 7 March 7 April 4 May 2 (no MB) June 6 July 4 August 1 (probably not) August 31 in Vancouver October 3 November 7 December 5 The CERN IT Auditorium has been reserved for these dates

5 GDB meetings in 2008 Feedback requested on ‘first Wednesday principle’
Plan two meetings outside CERN One in March to avoid Geneva Motor Show Volunteers – one received so far. First Wednesday of the month has caused a few clashes. Perhaps propose a different Wednesday next year.

6 Vancouver 31st August at Triumf, Vancouver
WLCG Workshop 1-2 September, Victoria, Vancouver Island 0900 No F2F MB that week usual Tuesday phone conference Attendance at both will require travel on evening of 31st There are limited options (flight or ferry) and this is a holiday weekend. My proposal is that people plan to arrive in Vancouver on 30th so that we can start early and finish by 1600 on 31st JCG plans to seek help with travel for all.

7 Working Groups Quattor - Reporting today
Filesystems – HEPiX DESY wb April 23 GSSD CERN 12 April, 7 May, Pre-GDB 5 June, 3-4 July Monitoring (x2) - Report in May Job Priorities - today

8 Top 5 Issues Experiments will be presenting their top 5 issues to the MB over the coming weeks. GDB will then consider the aggregated technical issues. Request presentations from relevant people Operations, Middleware, Deployment, (my guesses) Develop an Action Plan if appropriate

9 Topics for Future Meetings
Monitoring – SAM and Monitoring Groups Top 5 Issues Castor – follow-up on Tier0 Issues WMS Service Level Metrics gLite CE – how is it shaping up? T1-T2 interactions and testing reports from federations FCR – update on new features Accounting Policy approval Suggestions? Monitoring – Piotr to respond to Graeme’s critique of SAM-BDII errors Ian Bird’s two groups on monitoring – status reports Top 5 Issues – see previous slide. Discuss the lists at MB. GDB to consider technical issues further. CASTOR Bernd Panzer leading task force to deal with ATLAS Tier0 issues. Should have some conclusions by May. Ian Bird proposed service levels that gLite WMS must meet. Developers should test that these levels can be reached and maintained but how will we demonstrate this in practise. gLite CE – doesn’t seem to have been tested for real. Getting close to proposed date for dropping LCG CE. How close are we to this? T1-T2. UK and Italy can present on T1-T2 testing. Other federations now or in future.

10

11 Postscript What actions have arisen today that should result in a presentation to a future meeting? What issues have arisen that require someone to return to the next meeting with a status report? What topics would the meeting like discussed at future meetings?
