Key performance indicator Schools are measured by their success in achieving 5 GCSE grades including English and Maths and also by attendance percentage. Pupil Premium Extra money provided by the government to schools for students who receive free school meals.

Who are Ofsted? What do they do? 25 minutes analysis On each desk you will find a case study for four different school. Working as a team, you are asked to rank your schools in order of which you believe is the highest performing and why? You must explain your reasons as a group.

Saying hello to visitors when the come to visit your home. Refusing to buy products which you believe may have been stolen. Entering a lift and turning around towards the exit so you do not stare into other peoples faces. You will see a selection of behaviours. You must decide if they are norms or values. Give a reason for your choice. Not having sex before marriage. Only buying food which is organic. Blowing your nose on a handkerchief rather than on the sleeve of your jumper. Showing respect towards your parents and grandparents. Making sure that you don’t play your music out loud on the bus. Reporting a crime if you see it happening. Helping an old person to carry their shopping home. Showing understanding – 10 minutes Literacy Focus: You must write your response in full sentence answers: ‘I believe that <insert value or norm> is a…’ Make sure to use capital letters and full stops.

Neat Book Primary Socialisation Is the acceptance and learning of a set of values and norms, normally through the family. Secondary Socialisation Is the reinforcement of values and norms through other processes, normally by peers, school, religion etc. 5 minutes

Can you draw links between them? Do some of these agents rely on each other? Working in your table groups. Brainstorm how these agents of socialisation teach us the values and norms of society. 15 minutes– brainstorming in groups
