3 Course Overview Ghana: Human Rights and Social Justice Applied
21 day immersion (Study Abroad) 8 students (6 Undergraduate and 2 Graduate) 2 Ghanaian Peer (Social Work) Course Goals: Enhance students’ understanding and skill in applying social justice and human rights perspectives to their professional work. Strategies: Immersion in the distinct socio-cultural and historical context of Ghana through lectures, guest speakers, and excursions. Development and application of knowledge and skills for cross cultural and intercultural engagement. Integrated Service Learning. Work in interdisciplinary team including Ghanaian university peers to plan and implement small scale project that are of service to an agency or community. Reflection on their performance from multiple perspectives and reflection on integration of learning their own professional and personal aspirations.
