4 Why should you consider the IB Program?
Do you like to know what is happening in the world? Do you speak a second language and want to use that in your studies or profession? Do you enjoy the arts? You cannot decide on a favorite subject, but you are academically interested in a lot of different subjects You need an academic challenge IB Students are accepted to college at a rate 47% higher than the average high school student 100% of Laurel IB Students go to college, some with full scholarships.

9 Organization: What is the IB mission and legal status?
The IB is a not-for-profit foundation, motivated by its educational mission, focused on the student. Mission Core values The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment. 10 Philosophy: Middle Years Program to Diploma Program
Progress to IB DP is based on PDP academic performance Students are required to study their mother tongue, a second language, humanities, sciences, mathematics, arts, physical education and technology. In the fifth year of the programme, students also engage in a personal project, which allows them to demonstrate the understandings and skills they have developed throughout the programme. Local requirements can be integrated into this framework 9th and 10th - PDP 11th and 12th

13 Why did we do this exercise?
Holistic Learning – Every part of a car contributes to its existence and operation. What if we take the engine out? Intercultural Awareness – Cars are made all over the world, even in places you don’t think of. However, some countries make more cars than others. Why is it that we don’t think about these things when we are riding along in a car?

19 Final Thoughts The Laurel High School IB Program is open to all qualified students. We strive for the best possible success of our students. IB is a very difficult program that requires a high level of commitment.
